When we stopped for gas in Florala (a city bordering Florida and Alabama) I noticed this wall of license plates.

Don't know about you but I found this old school house to be captivating.

56 years old and this was the first time I'd seen a cotton field. After growing up in the Midwest with nothing but beans and corn, this was a welcome experience.

After catching the sun rise, my buddy Kurt drove us over to Camp Creek Lake to catch the sun rise from a different angle.

Next stop was Deer Lake for another stunning sun rise shot.

Susan Haefele drove 2 hours over from Mobile to see us while we were in Destin. It was great catching up with an old friend.

How many of you know that Nashville has an exact replica of the original Parthenon? I've visited the original in Athens. This replica gives you a better idea of how it would look if it weren't in ruins.

Taken from roughly the same place as Athens Greece, this gives you a perspective how impressive this place is.

On the way back home on Thursday, we spent the night out by the Grand Ole Opry so we had to do the tour before heading home. Cool place to visit.

Old Warsaw - It was a cold winter weekend in Warsaw - just like home.

One of the few buildings that withstood the German destruction was at the divide between the Russians and Germans.

Center square of Old Warsaw downtown. All of this was rebuilt since WWII. The Royal Castle of Warsaw was rebuilt entirely by the citizens and tourists of Warsaw and was not completed until 1984. Think about that for a while.

Warsaw fought the Nazis with everything they had, something the Russians found controversial and downplayed. It was due to this resistance that Germany destroyed 90% of Warsaw. Visiting this monument and Old Warsaw is truly moving.

It's common in this part of Europe to keep Christmas decorations out until February.

This is one of the most unique Hilton locations I've visited - sitting over the highway overlooking Stockholm's frozen harbor.

We took a ferry to the museum.

Stockholm is loaded with museums. Their cultural museum is beautiful from outside on this frigid day. Yes, it was about 10° in Stockholm.

This is me in front of the Vasa. You can't imagine how big this ship is. Sunk on its maiden voyage 500 yards from where it sits, it was restored in 1983. Quite a fascinating thing to witness.

Intricate details on its tail gives you an idea how much effort went into this massive ship. Just one problem. It toppled and sank in light winds on its maiden voyage.

High atop the tallest building in Stockholm, you get an idea how pretty the city is in the winter night light.

Chicago and NASCAR went all out for this race, circus and all. The concert venue was enormous. This was the Black Crows singing.

Day one started out well - a bit cloudy but very pleasant considering it was July 1.

That was supposed to be my selfie in front of the 75th anniversary sign but my head cut out the 75.

Day 2 didn't start well. Chicago took on record levels of rain. The streets were flooded.

Before we knew it, the rain stopped and the race began, slowly until things started to dry out.

With Chicago as the backdrop, the drivers began to get their legs and raised their speed each lap.

Before long, the boys were running at full speed.

The shortened race finished beautifully with the Chicago skyline in the background.

The crowds were so large, they opened the raceway for us to exit. Any other day, this was Jackson street.

Chicago says thanks to the race fans like only Chicago can.

It was a street party as we escaped from the raceway into the city. Great weekend!
