Yu Yuan Garden: This 1 acre garden in the heart of old Shangha was originally 6 acres and built by a Chinese Government officer who was trying to please his parents. It took almost 10 years to build the garden and his parents didn’t live long enough to see it finished.The garden was severely damaged in the 19th century during the Opium War.
